Why quitting smoking on your own is still so hard
Quitting smoking involves two distinct dependencies. The first is physical: the body craves nicotine, and its absence shows up as nervousness, irritability and sometimes broken nights. The second is behavioural. The morning coffee, the ten o’clock break, the journey home: each of these moments is enough on its own to bring the cigarette to mind.
Most people who come to the centre have already tried to stop. These attempts say nothing about their willpower: it usually takes several tries before quitting lasts. Laser auricular reflexology works on the physical side; the habits are then worked on during the support period.

How a session works, step by step

The session lasts about an hour. It begins with a welcome interview: how much you smoke, the attempts you have already made, the times of day when the urge comes back. - Applying the laser
Next comes the laser. A soft, low-intensity laser stimulates reflex points on the ear and a few points on the nose. No needles, no breaking of the skin, no medication: the method is non-invasive and painless. Most people describe only a slight warmth. The session ends with advice for the days that follow.
What the method aims to do, and what it does not do
The method is based on laser stimulation of specific points. It aims to ease the physical cravings felt after stopping and to reduce the symptoms often associated with withdrawal, such as stress, irritability, anxiety or sleep problems. The aim is to support you through this transition phase and make it less uncomfortable.
It does not replace your decision to stop, and it does not act on the habits built up over the years: that is the role of the support.

Who the method is not suitable for
The session cannot be offered to people in any of the following situations:
- pregnant women, at any stage of pregnancy
- people with a pacemaker or an active implanted electronic device
- people undergoing heavy medical treatment (active chemotherapy or radiotherapy)
- people who are photosensitive or taking photosensitising medication
- minors without parental consent
