Why quitting smoking on your own is still so hard
Quitting smoking involves two distinct dependencies. The first is physical: the body craves nicotine, and its absence shows up as irritability, nervousness and sometimes broken nights. The second is behavioural: the morning cigarette, the break at work, the drink with friends. Each situation ends up becoming a trigger in its own right.
Most people who come to the centre have already tried: patches, gum, e-cigarettes, willpower alone. These attempts are not personal failures: it usually takes several tries before quitting lasts. Laser auricular reflexology works on the physical cravings. The habits are then worked on during the support period.
Laser auricular reflexology in Brussels: what happens in a session
How a session works, step by step
- The welcome interview
The session lasts about an hour. It begins with a welcome interview: how much you smoke, your past attempts, the times of day when the urge for a cigarette comes back. - Applying the laser
Next comes the laser. A soft, low-intensity laser stimulates reflex points on the ear and a few points on the nose. No needles, no breaking of the skin, no medication: the method is non-invasive and painless. Most people feel only a slight warmth. The session ends with advice for your first smoke-free days.
What the method aims to do, and what it does not do
The method is based on laser stimulation of specific points. It aims to ease the physical cravings felt after stopping and to reduce the symptoms often associated with withdrawal, such as stress, irritability, anxiety or sleep problems. The aim is to support you through this transition phase and make it less uncomfortable.
It does not replace your decision to stop, and it does not act on the habits built up over the years: that is the role of the support.
Laser technology has been in use for more than thirty years; Reset Laser has been supporting people since 2020, in seven countries. The method in detail.
Who the method is not suitable for
The session cannot be offered to people in any of the following situations:
- pregnant women, at any stage of pregnancy
- people with a pacemaker or an active implanted electronic device
- people undergoing heavy medical treatment (active chemotherapy or radiotherapy)
- people who are photosensitive or taking photosensitising medication
- minors without parental consent
If in doubt, talk to your GP before booking.
What the Brussels centre offers you after the session
12
12 months of personalised support
The session is not the end of the road. For twelve months, you keep in direct contact with the Brussels centre: a low moment, a stronger urge for a cigarette than expected. You call, and the practitioner who saw you adapts their advice. That is what sets this approach apart from quitting smoking on your own.
+
A free support session if you relapse
If you smoke again within twelve months, you will be offered a new session at no extra cost, in Brussels or at any other centre in the international network. It is included in the initial price.
This commitment relates to the means we put in place and is not a promise of results, as success also depends on each client’s personal willpower.
The addictions supported at the Brussels centre
Tobacco
The session stimulates the reflex points linked to nicotine cravings as well as the points linked to stress and anxiety, to help ease the sensations felt after stopping. The support then focuses on the everyday situations that trigger the urge to smoke. Discover the method.
Alcohol
Same principle: a session that works on the craving points, followed by 12 months of support. It is a subject that often carries a weight of judgement, which the centre does not share. Find out more.
Cannabis
The principle is close to that for tobacco, working on the points linked to cravings, stress and anxiety. The support often goes further, as people also ask about sleep, motivation and concentration. Find out more.
Sugar
Both an addictive substance and an ingrained habit, refined sugar is worked on through the same points: those linked to cravings, to reduce the urge to consume it, and those linked to stress. Weight and energy concerns often go hand in hand with it. Find out more.
